Cyril Mugglin leads the drone initiative at Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecoms provider and one of its leading IT companies.
Swisscom’s vision is to digitize the airspace to enable safe and efficient drone operations. The Swisscom Drone Hub works closely together with the ecosystem to use drones in an efficient way by using the cellular mobile network.
The team successfully worked with industry-relevant players such as Switzerland’s ANSP Skyguide to assess the cellular network for steering and controlling drones. Together with the Autonomous System Labs at ETH Zurich they launched a 70km BVLOS flight connected over cellular. Swisscom is part of the Swiss U-Space initiative facilitated by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) intending to positively contribute to the development of the Swiss U-Space.
Before joining Swisscom, Cyril was Trade Advisor for the Swiss Government and helped Swiss companies doing business development on the West Coast of the U.S. Cyril is a passionate drone pilot who loves discovering the Swiss Alps, from Zurich, Switzerland.
