Head of UTM Airbus Commercial
Miguel Vilaplana is the head of UTM at Airbus Commercial Engineering, where he oversees the development of advanced digital solutions to enable the safe airspace integration of autonomous operations, including UAS and UAM. Miguel Ángel has more than 15 years experience in managing innovation programs in the areas of ATM, UTM, Autonomy and airline operations.
Prior to joining Airbus, Miguel Ángel led a global research team at Boeing working on the development and implementation of advanced technologies in the areas of Air Traffic Management, autonomous flight systems and digital services for the optimization of aircraft operations. Miguel Ángel has published more than 15 articles in conferences and specialized magazines and is the inventor of 7 patents in the areas of Air Traffic Management and Autonomous Operations. Miguel Ángel is an Aeronautical Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and holds a PhD in Aerospace Engineering (PhD) from the University of Glasgow (United Kingdom).
