Verizon, Associate General Counsel, Emerging Technologies
Melissa Glidden Tye serves as Associate General Counsel for Emerging Technologies at Verizon. In that role, Melissa works to advance Verizon’s federal policy, regulatory, and legislative agendas with a specific focus on issues related to spectrum, next-generation networks, and the Internet of Things, including unmanned aerial systems, connected vehicles, and smart cities.
Prior to joining Verizon in 2014, Melissa served as the lead regulatory counsel for Motorola Mobility, where she advocated on the company’s behalf before federal agencies on a variety of issues, including spectrum policy, accessibility, privacy, IP and patent policy, device regulation, and international trade. Melissa joined Motorola after serving as a Legal Advisor in the Wireless Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission. Melissa began her career as a telecommunications associate at Arnold & Porter LLP.
Melissa graduated summa cum laude from Roger Williams University in 2000, and is a 2005 graduate of Harvard Law School.
