This session looks into the mid-term future of UTM. Its “U” currently stands for “Unmanned”. But what if some manned aircraft started to also use services from UTM systems? In addition, there is a strong interest from air navigation service providers to learn from UTM in order to create the next generation of air traffic control. If this happens, UTM would again not be limited to drones. Would it then not be better to already describe UTM as “Unified Traffic Management”?
