A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Oregon School of Law,
Kenji Sugahara is the Chief Operating Officer of
Pierce Aerospace, a Remote ID USS. An attorney and remote pilot he was an active participant in the 2017 FAA Remote ID and Tracking Aviation Rulemaking Committee. Early that year he wrote a white-paper on Remote Identification and Tracking of UAS outlining the use of Bluetooth as a broadcast mechanism for ID. A member of the ASTM, Kenji is working with stakeholders to create the industry standard for Remote ID and Tracking. He has worked with a state aviation agency as a UAS policy advisor, and advises numerous state agencies and local municipalities on drone issues. He also sits on the UAS stakeholder group that advises the Oregon Legislature on UAS issues.
